    1983 5.7L V8 Chevy rebuild

Regarding 4. How are the splines on the Intermediate drive shaft ? Are they worn at all ? My understanding is there was a "newer style" coupler that was made that is meant hold in grease better to protect the splines more at that connection. They have a bottom , not open like yours. Might be...

OMC shift cable variations and identification marks

Depending on what the previous owner removed when he switched from mechanical to hydro . He may have removed the wiring plugs needed . If they did , it's not a big deal . My 77 boat of course had none of that wiring . But yes , I would certainly add the ESA back into yours . I think it's 3...

OMC shift cable variations and identification marks

I have an 85 model full mechanical shift . I also have a spare shift cable for it. I just went and looked at the cable , and it's part number 982563. So if you're a hydro , you do not want that part number . And yeah , converting from hydro to full mechanical would be a breeze. I converted...

Sorry can't help with trim . Iver owned an outboard . But wheres the fuel tank going ? Based on the weight shift of the OMC vs outboard. moving it forward could help with weight distribution and how she sits in the water And great job

Burning ~3 quarts of oil between changes

What makes you say that? Are those not the factory crosshatch that I read about ? I've never been this deep in an engine.

Burning ~3 quarts of oil between changes

Thanks for replies everyone . I was able to find a 302 locally that was intended for a 67 mustang restoration , but the guy opted to go with a 351 and stroke it . So I picked it up for 200 bucks stand included . Allegedly the engine is from a 89 mustang HO and is pretty good shape from what...

https://forums.iboats.com/threads/omcmanifold-conversion-ford.620336/ That thread may help . I had to go through this a few years ago But I had the OMC log manifolds and an electric shift stringer

Will a 1979 250hp cable shift outdrive interchange with 1985 5.7L cable shift outdrive

My understanding is no.....the hydro shift cable from 79 can not be swapped around with the later mechanical shift cables.

    Standard o-ring vs. OEM

I know I have an OEM seal kit at home...... Unfortunately home is 2 hours from the boat and lake . Thanks Scott, I will go hunt one down right now

    Standard o-ring vs. OEM

Found this out today and was planning on using the boat for a short trip . And the upper was quite a bit low. Do you think I am okay to use a standard black rubber o-ring from a hardware store, or is this one of those things that it has to be an OMC part?

Clutch Fan to Electric Conversion, 1997 Suburban

Yeah , seriously check the fan clutch . I just went through this in my bronco . I was contemplating this exact thing ....got a new fan clutch and I am moving way more air . AC is cooling better and engine is cooler on long steep grades.
