    1989 Mercury 100 4cyl - Ignition Spark Issue (S/N: OB346208)

Yes. I moved the solid green from top coil (not firing) to second coil and moved the green/white from second coil up to top coil. This resulted in the top coil now served by the grn/wht to properly spark and the no spark condition to move down to second coil. Did same swap with lower two coils...

    1989 Mercury 100 4cyl - Ignition Spark Issue (S/N: OB346208)

Relatively newbie here that just purchased 1989 Mercury 100 for a learning project. Mounted and rigged on project boat, but at WOT only getting 2,500rpm. New gas, new fuel lines, primer bulb, rebuilt carbs, performed link/sync. Starts with bump of the key, idles great, but no WOT. Checked spark...

    1986 Mercury 50hp 3-cyl - Shift Shaft Disconnect

I recently acquired a project boat with what I believe to be 1986 Mercury 50hp S/N: A 952458 (pic attached) I have not had success yet finding the factory service manual for this particular engine. I plan to drop the lower unit and replace the impeller, but didn't readily see how/where to...

    1997 Mariner 115 2+2 wont go above 2,000 rpm

I have a 1997 Mariner 115 2+2 (serial#: OG498217) on a 17' Alumacraft. It has been flawless for me since I acquired it in 2002. I removed the outboard last winter to complete transom replacement. I just got it in the water 8/18/18 and the motor started up great, idles fine, and runs flawlessly...

    Removing jet from carb

I'm in the process of rebuilding the carbs on 1979 Mariner 90 hp inline 6. I can not remove the brass jets from any of the three carbs. Is there a trick to freeing them? I'm afraid to apply too much force as one has already started to deform the slot.

1979 Mariner 90hp Inline 6 - No Start, no fuel

I picked up a project boat, motor and trailer for a self-education learning experience. It appears that the previous owner was in the midst of rigging this 1979 Mariner 90 hp in-line six engine to the boat and was far from done. I installed a fuel line from the gas tank to engine, purchased an...

1979 Mariner 90hp Wiring Harness to Engine

Recently acquired a project boat with 90 hp Mariner inline 6 SN# 5310112. The plugs have been cut from both the control box wire harness and the engine harness. It think I have most of the wires figured out in order to hard wire the control box to engine, but have a single white wire form the...
