    Lower Unit Service During Rebuild?

I'm about 75% done with the overhaul on my 1987 XP200 and I'm wondering if there is any inspection, service, or maintenance I should do to the lower unit while I have the power head off. Is there anything I should look at that's easier to get at now than when the power head is back on? I haven't...

    Piston to Cylinder Clearance

I'm doing a rebuild on my 1988 XP200 and I need to find the piston to cylinder wall clearance specification values. I have an OEM Service Manual and it has been very helpful for this whole project, but I can't seem to find what the clearance should be on this. I am having a cylinder bored out...

[PHOTOS] 1988 Evinrude XP200 Engine Teardown

Just thought I would share the photos from my teardown tonight for your entertainment and enjoyment. I'm going to bore out the bad cylinder, and rebuild the motor with new rings, seals, gaskets, carb kits, etc. I suspected the VRO as the culprit, but with just one bad cylinder and the others...

    Best Sources for Rebuild Parts?

Based on responses I'm getting on another thread where I posted cylinder damage photos, I'm going to need to tear down this motor (1988 XP200) and bore out one cylinder and drop in an oversized piston. While I have it apart I'll clean everything and replace the other 5 sets of rings and a few...

How bad is this cylinder? (1988 XP200) [PHOTOS]

This is a 1988 XP200 Take a look at these photos of the topmost port-side cylinder. It's compression is 59, the rest are 100. Am I going to need to bore it out and drop in an oversized piston and rings? What am I looking at here? http://www.flickr.com/photos/randyhall/sets/72157627077025879/

Does this mean my VRO is toast?

1988 XP 200 So, tonight I did a decarb with the Evinrude Tune Up stuff. The odd thing is that it only bogged down the motor when spraying into the port side carbs, but it didn't bog down the motor at all when doing the starboard side. I think I read on here that when your VRO goes out it shuts...

    Dead Cylinder...Now What?

Well, crap! After cleaning up my carbs on my 1988 XP 200 (on a newly acquired 1988 Champion Bass Boat), I went to drop in new plugs and decided to do a compression check. Here's what I found: 59, 99, 99, 99, 99, 96. So...now what? Do you do like car motors and tear it down, replace the other 5...

Where to purchase XP 200 Carb Kit

Hey guys/gals, first post here... I just bought a 20-foot 1988 Champion Bass boat from my brother and he said I need to overhaul the carburetor on the Evinrude XP 200 ASAP. He said it has NEVER been done since the boat left the factory in 1988 and he thought I could get a carb kit pretty easy...
