I have a 6 cylinder 115hp mercury with electric choke.The problem is when I try to start when cold it's almost impossible.I push the choke switch and I can smell and if cover off engine gas will come out the carb but no start.Usually I stick a rag in the center carb and it tries to start but can...

I have a 115 hp 6 cylinder mercury outboard that when I try to accelerate from neutral the motor stalls.I checked and there is no accelerator pump on the motor and it does have an inricher system.The motor is around a 1989.If I keep trying it will evenualy go.
I have a 115 hp inline 6 cylinder serial#oa732564 mercury 2 stroke.The problem is boat seems to work quit well until I give it more throatle then the engine screams from rpms being so high and boat does not go any faster.Any thoughts to my problem would be much apperiatied.Thank you
