Finally Got Out on the Water!!

Thanks. This tank is non-metallic; some sort of plastic compound, I believe.

Finally Got Out on the Water!!

Where can I find anti-siphon valves? Mine has corroded severly. It appears to be a 3/8's inch thread into the tank. It is aluminum, but I've seen posts from Lou where he suggests replacing with brass. Any input is appreciated. Thank you, gentlemen (and women)!

Finally Got Out on the Water!!

P.S. I did have the Coast Guard Reserve come out to inspect the ship a few weeks before putting her into the water. His input and comments were invaluable. And he passed my boat, affixing an approved "Vessel Safety Check" sticker!

Finally Got Out on the Water!!

First of all, many, many thanks to all of you that have assisted me over the years. Several of you implied that I must have been crazy to have purchased a 23-year old (at the time) I/O without having done my due diligence. And, in retrospect, I'd have to say you would be right in almost every...

Fuel Cap - 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215

Now I am looking for the fuel sending unit and the one-way valve for the 50-gallon fuel tank (same boat). Does anyone know the best way to look up these part numbers? Or a site that would sell such items? Thanks very much!

    Bilge Pump Wiring Question

My sincerest apologies, folks. I guess I had somehow crossed the 'automatic' vs. the 'always-on' wires. The pump is working as expected now. Tomorrow I will begin re-attaching the electrical components surrounding the engine. As some of you may know, that engine - the 5.8 L OMC Cobra -has a...

    Bilge Pump Wiring Question

Exactly, mike_i. I'm connecting it through a switch that can turn it on so it runs no matter what the float position. Then, when that switch is off, I believe the pump will run if water accumulates in the bilge and raises the float. And, yes, there is a solid brown wire and a brown w/white. As...

    Bilge Pump Wiring Question

Thanks for your response, matt167. To clarify, the bilge pump is brand new (never been used) and comes with its own, integrated float - same as the pump that was replaced. My assumption is that when I apply power to the 'automatic' input wire, but not to the 'manual' one, the pump should only...

    Bilge Pump Wiring Question

Good Afternoon Fellow Boaters, I'm winding down the repairs to my 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215. It was left outside (in Maryland) for several years, so a lot of things that were submerged needed to be replaced. One of them is the bilge pump. I replaced the old pump (Attwood Guardian 500) with...

    Binoculars On The Water

Hey Folks, I was curious if there's any consensus on what constitutes a good set of binoculars, while using a power boat. Most of my boating will take place on the Potomac river, or one of its estuaries; and during the day. I think I may have seen that we aren't allowed to promote products that...

Older Trailer - What To Do

Hello Trailer Aficionados, A couple of years ago I purchased a 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215, with the trailer. The whole rig had been sitting in a parking lot in Maryland, exposed to the elements, for approximately 2 years. While restoring the boat to working order, over the past few years, I...

    Cleaning out old fuel

Good Day Fellow Mariners, I purchased a 1994 Four Winns a couple of years ago. It was in pretty bad shape, having sat in a parking lot in Maryland for several years uncovered. I have done quite a bit of work on it and am getting somewhat close to putting it in the water, for the first time. I...

Rear Engine Mounts Question - 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215

This boat has a Volvo-Penta combination with a 5.8L EFI Ford engine. I removed the engine last week (no real problems), but really just raised it up enough so I could re-insert a couple of freeze plus. I lowered it back down most of the way and got the bolts started in the front engine mounts...

Fuel Cap - 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215

I purchased a 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215 last year. It had been sitting in a parking lot in Maryland for several years, so it's not in great shape. I've been able to successfully acquire all of the necessary parts/tools so far. And I feel like I'm heading towards the "finish line," as far as...

    Determining/Selecting Engine Number/Type

I have a 1994 Four Winns Sundowner 215. It has a Volvo/Penta setup; Boat Model number is: 58FACPMDA and Transom Model number is: 3868030. I am trying to locate the hydraulic lines for the tilt/trim unit. When I go to the Volvo Penta website it lists many SX engines?! (See screenshot below.) Am...
