    1973 50 hp Evinrude broken drive shaft

    I have a broken drive shaft that broke right below the splines at the top. So I have this broken piece up there that I can not get out. How hard of a job is it to remove the powerhead. Can this be done by a novice with some basic mechanical ability? Should this be left to the pros ?

    Broken Drive Shaft 1973 50 hp Evinrude.

    I bought this motor off a guy who hit a rock with the prop. This broke the drive shaft off at the top just below the splines. So with the lower unit removed you just look up the shaft housing and can see the broken part just sitting up in the engine flat and as smooth as glass. Question: how do...
