hey so i have this boat with a 5.0 gxi and just this year i am having alot of trouble getting neutral when docking when i say hard, i mean , v/p are usually the smoothest shifting o/d's ive used and this one is shifting like an alpha with the grounding switch disconnected. i had the drive off...
why are all the kits including the 2 seals below the pump housing? is this a common issue and required to be replaced when changing the pump out?

steering cable is very stiff and i do not think ill be able to get behind the engine to remove it from the transom. has anyone done this without removing or at least moving the engine? 4.3 V6
good job, i pulled a completely rebuilt engine out of a boat cause i thought it was coming from the balance shaft bearing. its the only thing i hadnt replaced. replaced the bearing and reinstalled engine. noise still there. ended up being a bad spacer under the carb
got it, i pulled the head, both cylinders moving slightly and just kept working it. finally it got looser and looser. i threw the head back on with the old gasket and she fired over.
ill be ordering some parts now that i know she will turn.

the crank rotated completely several times and i was able to pull the cord and make it rotate but as i said, very still, more pulling would have broken the cord.
the leg came off without an issue. but like i said, now, only turns back & forth about 20-30 degreees.
this outboard was totally locked up, i soaked the cylinders with pb blaster and got it to move, it was tight but it rotated.
i pulled the lower leg off to ensure there was no issue there and now the crank only moved slightly back & forth, about 20-30 degrees.

split the drive and installed a complete impeller with housing, issue resolved. i have never had this problem before, housing was in prefect condition,. i cant believe its resolved, but very happy it is
