I got a Johnson 1984 50hp. The engine leaks water and exhaust from the midsection (see picture). I am wondering if there is a leak from the exhaust housing, perhaps a need to change the gasket (0351019)?
Also, I get this "gunk" around the engine, under the cowling. Wondering if that is also...

I have a Johnson 50 -84.
Background: I have had problems with the lower of the two cylinders. Rebuilt the carb, and switched to a spare coil. Changed powerpack. Got intermittent spark, but not running properly. Measured the ohms and everything checked out.

The starter works just fine, as does the battery. The flyweel spins as normal. There is no spark on any cylinder. Basically step 2, alternative 1 of the FAQ guide.
