Should I vent, using clam shell vents - on opposite boat sides - one vent facing forward, the other to the stern - the aft (aprox 32 cu ft" locker) where gas can is stored with fuel line to 9.9 outboard in 26' MacGregor sailboat? And if so, what size vents and holes?

Can someone tell me the manufactured year my "new" SailMaster 8 HP, Model J8SRL ETB, S/N 08992527. I recently purchased a 1993 26' MacGregor sailboat with this motor. It has not run in 2 to 3 years.
