My 1978 Mercury 800 only starts if I tilt the engine up about 45 degrees then it starts fine. When it's warm it will usually start normally but occasionally even when warm it needs raising to start? Can anyone offer any advice? It's nothing to do with gears or the starter. Thanks! Nick
Anyone know whether this engine is meant to have a tell tail. I have changed the impeller, replaced cracked coils and serviced the carb. It runs perfectly but I've never ran an engine that doesn't have a tail of water to show it is being cooled properly. Is this normal?
