19’ Grumman and 15HP outboards with lifts have been used for years in swift rivers in Alaska hauling moose out. This combination is a time proven match. The extra HP of the 15HP is much appreciated going back up stream.
The motor sits on a manual spring loaded lift that goes up and down based on the water depth for shallow running. On a 19’ foot canoe the 15HP 2 stroke is very common in Alaska to get your load back up stream with Lift.
Time to replace my well worn prop. My current Standard prop is 9.5 x 10 pitch on my 1985 Jonhson 15HP. I ordered a Johnson 9.25x9 pitch for a replacement. Dropping down 1 pitch should help a tad with heavy loads.
The 100 -1 was sufficient lubrication for most motors while running. The bulletin had nothing to do with lubrication while running and everything to do with storage of the motor (again legal talk so to not get involved in a major recall).
Yes .040 for Johnson 15Hp Seahorse 1985
One spark plug for lower RPM use and one for higher RPM use both gap at .040.
But this is for my 1985 Johnson 15HP Seahorse with 100:1 mix yours might be different.
By the 15 HP 1984 Johnson manual it’s a 7000 at the top !
At the shaft it drops down to like 6200 if my memory serves me correct with factory 10 pitch.
Time to replace my 10 pitch on my 1984 Johnson 15 HP …….mainly used for moose hunting.
Should I go with a 8 or 9 pitch for better performance on my 19’ canoe ?
