i have a old 50's johnson 5.5 and it will run perfect when idling but as soon as i put it in gear it stalls. i already changes the plugs, did a compression test (70 on each) checked the spark, and made sure my fuel was good. i cant think of anything else
i have a 1954 5.5hp cd 11 and it smokes like crazy. i already changed the oil ration to 24:1 and im using johnson outboard oil. i put seafoam in the gas and it still smokes. the only thing i can think of now is that i have a lot of carbon build up on the piston ring. how can i get that carbon...
i have a 1954 5 1/2 johnson cd11 seahorse and on the case it says 1/2 pint to one gallon. i did the math and that is a 16:1 ratio. is that to high. would a 24:1 or a 32:1 ratio work for that. the reason i ask is because it smoke like crazy no matter if im in idle or full throttle
