hello, I need buy a new out drive curent drive is a mc1 (short shaft) u joint and I would like to update to a alpha 1 (long shaft) u joint are just the u joint shafts interchangeable from mc1/r drives to alpha 1 gen 1?
if so will a socket and c clamp work to seperate the u joints?
Alright figured out my drive is pre alpha 1 did the presure test and air comes right out the u joint yoke assembly and I'm guessing all the seals probably need changed do to heat - grey mush in drive who no's how long (just surface rust so far) .
The question is are these drives o.k. to run on...
when I drained the old lube thick gray mush was all that come out, is it alright too just do a water pump kit or do I have too rebuild the whole drive.
