Is it acceptable to just dead head the pump in order to check the pressure.?
(I assume the pump has some type of internal bypass feature, since its feeds a float bowl?).
What is the proper pressure range I should be looking for (for carbed version).? Thanks.!

Yes. That's exactly correct. It's item #9 which includes item #10 (o-ring seal).
I decided to take a gamble and went ahead and ordered it last night.
I'm hoping the fitting on my pump is the same as the one on the stock pump.
Fingers crossed....

No, that is actually the carburetor inlet fitting, where the metal fuel line FROM the fuel pump attaches.
(I just happened to have it removed as well, so that I can replace the small screen filter in the carburetor).
The reason I included it was to show the TYPE of fitting I need to recreate...
1996 4.3 LX Gen+ with S/N 0F803561.
Previous owner replaced the fuel pump with an unknown brand (1st picture).
They cut off the stock electrical connector and directly spliced the wires (2nd picture).
Pump works great but leaks at the inlet fitting due to a very shoddy installation.
They...
I see a very subtle undercut shape on one side.
Here is another picture showing the side view.
Is that the slight flange that you are referring to.?
Thanks very much.!
Question about the Double Seal that goes into the bottom of the upper drive housing.
The two seals appear to be identical (one seals OUT water, and one seals IN gear lube).
But the outer portions of the two seals are different. Please see the attached pictures.
Which direction does the seal...
1996 MerCruiser 4.3 LX Gen+
Operation & Maintenance Manual # 90-807795962. On page 51 it states:
"To maximize the life of valves and valve seats on your MerCruiser engine, use Quicksilver Valve Lubricant (92-90131A12) regularly."
It appears this P/N has been superseded by P/N-826259A12, but that...
Update:
I found that a 2" PVC Coupler has an inside diameter of 2-3/8".
That worked perfectly as an install tool for tapping the Speedi Sleeve on.
And it only cost $1.56 at Home Depot... :)
A new question regarding this same topic:
Do you guys normally try to remove the tearaway installation...
Engine is a 1996 Mercruiser 4.3 LX Gen+.
Outdrive is an Alpha One Gen 2 (S/N: 0F709127).
I am currently replacing all the seals in the upper half of the outdrive.
So the "drive gear assembly" and the "driven gear assembly" have now both been removed.
I did not remove any shims or bearing cups...
The outdrive serial number is 0F709127.
Along with the driveshaft seals, I plan to replace the yoke seal.
So won't I need to reset the rolling torque after that.?
.
I do have Service Manual #14 and I am following the procedure there.
And I am replacing the yoke seal as well, so I will need to reset the rolling torque.
I thought I had read that the double seal design change did not change the seal cavity.
Which would mean that either seal configuration...
