I have a 50HP Mercury, 1985 model, 4 cylinder that had some wiring from the stator to the switch box that was deteriorated. I spliced in new wire going back as close to the stator as possible. Now the engine will not rev much above a idle. Would this be caused by the wire splicing or by timing...
I have a 50 HP Mercury, 4 cylinder, 1985 model that normally runs well. Recently I found some of the stator wiring had disintergrated. I pulled the flywheel and followed this wiring back near the stator and spliced in new wires to the remaining old wires.
