    Hey- my boat didn’t come with a engine hours counter gauge and is the carbed 4.3 Merc so no electronic method to get info. Does anyone know of a decent product that hooks up to tach? - that I could add on to at least capture the hours I put on the boat from now on ? Thanks for any suggestions.

    Lake test was successful, was able to achieve 4500 RPM WOT, engine sounded good, no water in bilge. Guess im all good, dodged a bullet with the core plug popping out ?

    yeah i know! - i must not have used the wire enough or forgot in that drain plug area. No water in oil or any other leaks are present. the shop had it out on lake for around 30 mins after they repaired it and said all seemed fine.

    What is a preferred method for removal of the gimbal bearing (hummer vs puller)?

    For what it's worth, I used a gear puller and a couple heaves it popped right out. reinstall I used a thick PVC tube with diameter that fit around the solid part of the bearing and with a wood block, tapped it into place.
