Can anybody share as to what timing advance their cobras set up at?
Does 8 DEG BTDC sound right? It's a GM V8 block
Just want to make sure I am up to date on this.

Just making sure I did it tight, the book calls for 3 deg. BTDC for 86-88 octane gas. Now that gas is 10% ethanol and how knows what else has changed there since that manual came out, I am wondering if 3 deg BTDC is still a right value?

Last fall my 89 Cobra started backfiring through the carb at about 3200 rpms. Also it started vibrating at about the 3000 rpms. Is this ignition related or more of the fuel delivery/carb issue?

I know it's a silly question, but would I save any gas at all if on a rather long trip (approx 25 miles) I would go in a displacement mode (1500-2000 rpm) rather then plaining (at 3600 rpm)?
My motor is 5.7 OMC Cobra.
