Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

The OEM pump from Mercruiser comes with two gaskets....😕 But the manual only mentions one, and it asks for it to be coated on both sides with Perfect Seal.

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

I dont think it's a float/neeadle seat issue because 1) the needle and seat are new (and I just installed a new seat washer), 2) the float weighs exactly 9 grams and is adjusted millimetrically to the specs, and 3) I tested the pressure it takes to open the needle when closed with an air pump...

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

Finally got a chance to test the boat; it accelerates perfectly, but the flooding continues, and without evidence (I have no way to measure it), I'm convinced the pump's pressure is overwhelming the needle. I found this thread here where the issue was a missing "shim" between the pump and the...

Another Alpha one Gen I to Gen II Swap Thread

It's a 2000 Gen 2, ratio 1:1.98. I'm going to check it in person soon, but it looks great, and the seller claims it's mint. I searched around, and the internet says it does, but do you know if the Power Steering actuator from my Gen 1 will fit the Gen 2 inner transom plate without issues?

Another Alpha one Gen I to Gen II Swap Thread

I read about that. I can use the inner plate as template. And I haven't researched it but I guess one has to apply 4200 to the inside of those two new holes, and replace the transom gasket.

Another Alpha one Gen I to Gen II Swap Thread

I went through many threads on the forum about this topic. Tons of useful info; almost all have slight variations or involve an engine swap, which isn't my case. Next year I will need to rebuild the transom assembly (bellows, bearing, cable) and water impeller and possibly reseal my 1990 Alpha...

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

I cleaned this carb deeply when I rebuilt it about two months ago. Today, nothing came out- no dirt or anything on the wire....I don't know what changed, honestly. The issues I have been dealing with since rebuilding are the flooding and its consequence: a leak off the shaft. Other than that...

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

Yeah, everything is there...steel ball, spring, and T retainer. Anyway, I spent some time sticking a needle wire (came with a kit) in both directions of the accelerator circuit (from the well and from the discharge hole) and injecting fuel at high pressure with a syringe from both directions. I...

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

Sorry, I posted from my phone, and it put the comment in the wrong thread. I meant that no gas is coming out of the discharge hole, even though the plunger is in great shape.

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

The plunger seems perfect...it fits snugly.

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

I Fixed the seat washer. I'm bench testing the accelerator circuit before out it all back together and I don't understand... why no fuel comes out of the discharge hole when the spring and t are pressing down? I recorded a video but seems to big to attach. See the link...

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

Yes I agree. But my question whether the shaft letting fuel out is okay..I'm fixing the flooding, as mentioned

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

I took down my 3.0's Mercarb to investigate the fuel leak from the throttle shaft, and I'm not sure the shaft play is bad enough. I tested pumping the carb manually (while it had gas in it) and spraying a bit of WD40 on the closed butterfly; anything that drips on the butterfly eventually leaks...

Adding an oil pressure switch to the remote filter adapter.

Ever since I installed a temp/oil warning kit to my 3.0 (see the picture for reference), the brass fitting that goes into block has cracked three times (I cought it all three times before it drained all the oil into the bilge, last time it leaked nearly 2 liters while cruising). It appears that...

    Switching mercruiser throttle controls

Finally got to install the remote. I had to widen the cutout behind the panel and remove the original kill switch (mine is on the left of the steering wheel by the Ignition switch) to avoid making unnecessary holes in the panel. It works great with my 1999 3.0 / 1990 Alpha 1 Gen 1 setup. Smooth...
