So I pulled the trigger on them. Took them out two days ago. Son and his buddy had a ball with them. Only downside is one is a bit boggy now and a bit slower than it was when I did the sea test, but he was still able to move around 40 and the hole shot was good. Will likely winterize them soon...

I have a brake winch from West Marine I bought when my OEM winch broke. It works great, but for the fact that I didn't realize it was a brake winch when I bought it. This makes it kind of a pain because I can't freewheel the line out.

I think I'll go the Tiny Tach route just because it's good to know. But it does sound like I might be good where I'm at. It's had this prop for 30 years or so, so I can't imagine it's damaging the engine as is. I believe it's the OEM prop.
