    Transon mounted trolling motor

I could see that, but I'm not a terribly strong swimmer, so I'll role with the vest. :)

    Rotax 717 and 720 reliability

So I pulled the trigger on them. Took them out two days ago. Son and his buddy had a ball with them. Only downside is one is a bit boggy now and a bit slower than it was when I did the sea test, but he was still able to move around 40 and the hole shot was good. Will likely winterize them soon...

Yes. And a vest. But 19 year old me let the testosterone do the thinking way more often. :-)

    Transon mounted trolling motor

As a young (and stupid) man I and a buddy took my old aluminum out and decided to just stop and jump in for a swim. The wind took it and I damned near drowned trying to catch up to it.

New prop and trim tabs update.

I'm usually between 4500-4700. Limiter is at 4800 (I think. I've never really hit it). At 19 pitch I was lugging with towing. I seldom go with less than 4 people and gear, so I'm usually more heavily loaded. If I'm just people, I am usually around 7 people and snacks. I *can* fit nine, but...

Better hole shot for a jon boat.

I've had great luck with TurningPoint props.

Same pitch; 17. Diameter on the new prop is an inch larger. Trim tabs are the 60lbs version from Nauticus.

New prop and trim tabs update.

4.3 MFI has a rev limiter, so I never get beyond 4800 IIRC. It doesn't lug at all.

    Rotax 717 and 720 reliability

Looking at a couple of 1999 Sea Doos. I'm just looking for a couple of years of fun with my older sons. I know these are old. Sea test checks out. Hoses look good. Compression is good. Other than that, I've heard these gen Rotax engines have good reputations for reliability. Is this true? If I...

Better hole shot for a jon boat.

I appreciate the reality check. I suppose I'm enamored by the idea of the performance improvements that the SS gave to my Four Winns.

    Brake Winch from West Marine.

Yeah, my 'crank arm' is the same one that I had my rotator cuff re-attached on. :-). The 2 speeds is what sold me.

So all things being equal I might see some improvement, assuming the RPM's fall into the correct range.

    Brake Winch from West Marine.

I have a brake winch from West Marine I bought when my OEM winch broke. It works great, but for the fact that I didn't realize it was a brake winch when I bought it. This makes it kind of a pain because I can't freewheel the line out. It does have a handle on the left hand side that is spring...

Better hole shot for a jon boat.

I think I'll go the Tiny Tach route just because it's good to know. But it does sound like I might be good where I'm at. It's had this prop for 30 years or so, so I can't imagine it's damaging the engine as is. I believe it's the OEM prop. Is there any truth to the idea that SS is wasted on...
