It was raining here today and it is a holiday here in Canada. I pulled out a 5D14v gale 5hp that I did a minor rebuild on last winter and it just didn't run well last summer. Ran but never purred at low throttle setting and never seemed to make full RPM.
I re-gaped the points, rechecked...
I have a 1946 3hp Sea King that I just put back. I am used to working with the Johnson/Evenrue 5.5hp (mid 50's to 63), the head on the 3hp seams to run a little warmer than the 5.5s. Not hot, more like a cup of coffee w milk.
The impeller is good and all passages are clean and it's spraying...
