Thanks for the info and suggestions! If anyone finds any info on good motors in the 15-25hp range that might work, I’d definitely appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I’ll keep looking as well, but so far everything I’ve seen at 5+ Hp end up being huge or weigh way too much to make...
I would love to just go straight to the shaft, but I’ve been struggling to find motors that would fit that way. If you have any suggestions on where to find those, I’d love to know! The ones I found so far have been closer to 3hp and would fit between the shaft and the front or back, but not...
Perfect! Last night I got that and the rest of the engine off. Now I have the drive shaft exposed which is awesome news for me since I’m such a novice when it comes to engines! Haha my next goal is to figure out the specs of that shaft so I can figure out a way to adapt it to accept input from...
I went and got a puller today and it worked perfectly! Had to get longer bolts too, but what good project doesn’t require multiple trips to the hardware store… haha
After I got the flywheel off I got to the part below it (which I won’t try and name for fear of being wrong twice haha) and now...
Hey there! I think the motor is have is either a ‘55 or ‘56 Buccaneer and I’m trying to take it apart to clean everything and get everything working, but also to convert it to being an electric motor. For that I’d obviously need to get to the drive shaft and I’m struggling to disconnect the...
Sorry I didn’t post it as a reply to your post, but I did upload a pic of the 3 parts of the cowling! I can take better pics or from different angles if you think that’ll help figure out the year and all that.
Awesome! Thanks so much for your help and being so quick to respond! I’m usually pretty good at googling, but I was having a tough time finding much about this!
Gotcha, well I guess I’m glad I’m not just blind. Haha The way the motor housing is shaped and painted made me think it was a ‘56 but I also saw a chart which made it look like number-wise it would be closer to a ‘57. Does that seem reasonable? Are there any other things I could take pictures of...
Thanks for your help! I’ve looked all through the area you pointed to and I’m not seeing anything attached with any writing on it unfortunately. I took a different picture of the spot you pointed to in case you see something I don’t or see that it’s missing. Are there any other spots to check...
I’m not sure I’m finding something exactly where you’re saying, but I did find this number close to where I thought you meant. Looks like 376911 to me. I’ll upload a couple pics but it’s on the underside of the motor housing near the mount and clamps.
Hello everyone! I just bought a Gale Buccaneer motor with a serial of 0655245 and that made it seem like a 1957, but the chart I saw was a bit confusing so I figured I’d ask here to confirm that and see if there are any good resources for parts/info on this model? Thanks in advance for any help...
