Diagnose where water is coming from

I just talked on the phone with another boat mechanic. He mentioned it’s possible that if there was enough water in the engine compartment, the flywheel could pick up some of that water and make it appear as if there was a leak similar to a dislodged core plug. My bilge pump doesn’t work and I...

Diagnose where water is coming from

Yeah when I noticed it last year I got it out of the water. Mentioned it to the guys at the marina. When they looked at it this spring they weren’t able to get it to leak again in the shop or out on the water. So I’ll drop it in and see what happens. It’s just weird that it would be there last...

Diagnose where water is coming from

I found this picture online, it looks like the water was coming out of this spot I pointed to.

Diagnose where water is coming from

Now, the other thing is. I noticed this first in the fall last year. It ran all summer without issue. As you mentioned they can rot and deteriorate, so it could happen at any point. It’s not like something that would more likely show up at the beginning of the year?

Diagnose where water is coming from

I’m afraid of the answer to this question, but it seems that the only way to fix this is to pull the engine out of the boat? Out of curiosity, any idea what a shop would charge to do something like this?

It’s back here, this is a picture I had on my phone

Diagnose where water is coming from

Yes, as others have mentioned. It is on the starboard side and appears to be aft of the starter. I can take a picture for better clarity later

Diagnose where water is coming from

I’m admittedly rather naive about that. I drop it off in the fall and pick it up in the spring. Perhaps I’m too trusting

Diagnose where water is coming from

It has been winterized every year, but then wrapped and stored in the northeast in a non-climate controlled setting.

Diagnose where water is coming from

I have a 2003 Stingray 230LX with a 350 MAG engine. Last year as I was taking it out for the year I noticed it was doing this leak in the video attached. It was coming from the back left area of the engine (standing in the boat looking to the stern) and only when the engine was running. I had my...

    2003 Stingray 230lx Bilge questions

Hey guys, I have a new to me 2003 stingray 230lx. Just had it serviced and the shop told me the bilge pump was not working and a pretty big project to replace due to its location. It’s trailered for this year so I am not too concerned about it. What I am wondering is if this boat has more than...

    Blue Sea dual battery troubleshooting

New battery, problem solved. Love when it’s the easiest solution, hate when it seems so obvious I overlook it at first

    Blue Sea dual battery troubleshooting

The extra perko switch goes to the two audio amplifiers. I will replace the one questionable battery and I suspect that may fix the issue. But we will see

    Blue Sea dual battery troubleshooting

Hmm, you may be right. They are not kept on a maintenance charger. I just checked the primary battery and it was only reading 1.8 volts. Interestingly, it jumped up to 5 or so when I turned the switch on, and then up to 12 when I switched to “combine.” These were all measured at the battery...

    Blue Sea dual battery troubleshooting

I recently bought a 2003 Stingray 230lx. The boat has the blue sea dual circuit switch connected to two batteries. Obviously one battery is for the starter, and the second battery is connected to a circuit that goes to two speaker amplifiers and a power inverter. I am having trouble with the...
