    I would consider a bowrider at least 22 ft. You're not mechanically inclined so an outboard is a better choice. Pontoons are nice but often don't come with a trailer, which means renting a slip or buying the trailer. Off season you'll need to have a marina pull it & store it.

    I never did. Lol. I drained & filled my 3.0 Cobra with AF every fall & in over 20 years never had an issue with freeze up or corrosion. I live in snow country & wind chill temps at night can drop to -25 or even lower.

    Sounds like a hole in the water. Before you even think about a repower make sure the transom, stringers, etc isn't rotted. You have a boat that is almost 40 years old.

    I fogged my engine before layup because I live in snow country. I would start the engine off muffs, bring it up to operating temp, & spray fogging oil into the carb until it stalls.     Never leave a boat uncovered in a slip. Ever. Sh*t happens & it will during the week when you're at work or out of town.

    If you don't want to go thru that again then stay away from "set it & forget it" scams. There are no shortcuts to proper winterization. Follow the steps that Lou outlined & you'll be fine.

    I used pre mix AF available at any auto parts store or you can mix your own but makes sure it's at least 50/50 that will protect your engine down to -25 or so. Fog the engine until it stalls, then drain the block & manifold. Don't leave any standing water in the bilge.
