Swapped a boat/motor/trailer for same.
Starting troubles.
Cleaned up the starter solenoid and replaced brushes/springs in the starter.
Needed to prop choke open to start.
Had motor running and blew a can of seafoam through it. Smokey Joe!!!
My 70's merc 50 was not starting, choke was...
50 hp with key choke needs air to start up. When I use a screwdriver & open up the brass plate(s) it starts and then when I push forward the plates open: if I raise the idle speed will they open up enuf ?
How do I adjust this choke so it allows more air at startup?
I recently was given an older 4hp Johnson seahorse motor. Model Number is J4WC1C and the serial number is C8120275. This is in Canada, so it may have a different series of numbers. Any help would be appreciated.
