    Thank you for all your replies. Very helpful. Fixed the issue. You we right. The alternator should not have gone to the key. Rather, the starter solenoid. And I misspoke about the purple going to the neg on the coil. It was actually going to the positive.

    So, I went out today to check it out. From the key, (I) 1 wire (purple) goes to the ballast resistor. The other side of the ballast resistor goes to the neg on the coil. 1 10 gauge wire (orange) goes from key, all the way to the alternator. Also coming off the alternator has a black 10 gauge...
