    Rebuilding a wiring harness

Would it be feasible to just rebuild a motor side wiring harness? As far as I can see it would just involve new wire and pin connectors. Or are those pin connections molded into the plug?

    Ignition woes

I have an 85 evinrude xp 150. It’s been a work in progress. The boat sat for 9+ years. Last summer I drained the tanks, installed all new pickups. Took it out and it was a dog. This spring I got a fresh set of carbs. Installed them, did the full link up and set the timing. Took her out once...

    Timing

I’ve seen videos where they remove all spark plugs, ground out the wires open throttle to WOT and use a timing light on number one cylinder while cranking the engine over. Is this an acceptable way to set timing?

    Engine bogs under load

I have an 85 evinrude xp 150. Motor was completely rebuilt, but then sat for almost 8 years. Tanks were drained, removed and cleaned. All new fuel and oil lines. All new vacuum lines. The boat will idle fine and rev up in neutral. When you try to give it throttle in gear it just bogs down.
