    1996 115 Crossflow Milky Plug

Yes it does get up to temp. I’m thinking leaky head, hence why the loss of a bit of compression on that milky plug cyl… would this make sense?

    1996 115 Crossflow Milky Plug

The alarm sounded when I was idling around for a bit (less than 5 min) and I shut engine off but it continued to sound alarm for about a min even with engine off…. but key in my on position. I put 4 brand new oversized pistons and rings. 1 hole got a sleeve.

Yes sorry I should've mentioned the oil injection system had been deleted! I run the traditional 50:1 oil mix in the gas.

    1996 115 Crossflow Milky Plug

Hey everyone! I have a 1997 Northstar LTD jet boat with the famous OMC 115 Turbo jet, Ive owned the boat for about 6 years now. About 3 years ago I rebuilt the motor (myself) because it ate a ring in cyl #1 and #3. Its been running good knock on wood since, but fear I may have a problem...

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

It may be causing an air leak in these 2 little holes right beside the stripped bolt. I’m no OMC tech but just a thought?

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

Had the manual beside me, was following its values. Can’t remember off the top of my head.

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

I just stripped em out tightening by hand. Was bound to happen I guess. Only 2 out off all of them, and I didn’t think they were too important otherwise I would have fixed them right then and there before installing back on boat.

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

Was likely not the first time it had been opened up. Any idea if that second bolt has anything regarding its performance, or where it goes too/what’s behind it?

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

Can you check on your block where this other bolt goes into, as this one also stripped on me but I put in a different bolt of same length but cross thread, it’s tight but might not actually be tightening anything, I’m gonna be repairing this one too. Number 14 in diagram,

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

Yeah it didn’t seem like it was too important but when it effected my WOT RPM by 500 got a bit worried. Compression is still 130psi in each after rebuild, My #1 plug looks a bit black so thought maybe the carb wasn’t feeding it gas because it wasn’t tight, leaking the fuel elsewhere rather than...

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

I did find one a bit longer but it had different threads, I jammed it in there (stupid me) and it seemed like it got tight but I think it was just the threads cross-threading, I don’t think it tightened the intake manifold to the case properly as it was running the same as withought the bolt...

    115 Crossflow Stripped Important Bolt

So when I rebuilt my 97’ 115 crossflow I forgot to put one of the hooks that holds the wiring harness behind a bolt, last summer I took the bolt out and put the hook behind it when I tightened it I stripped the threads accidentally, the motor lost 500rpm off WOT from this (guess it had a...
