its common for some to run their main tank at 100 ta 1 with tha older motors jus for a little peace of mind and not totally confident with tha oiler workin'
reed plate and front half gotta match.. merc only built one 2.4 seven petal "production" model front and that was in '80 and '81.. they only built one 7 petal "production" 2.5 seven petal in '91.. other than those all other production motors were five's............

use "ears" when ya want ta run tha thing on tha trailer...

you need ta find an oem (forget tha aftermarket manuals.. they're junk) manual for your motor and do some serious readin'........ jmo... send me an email addy and i'll send ya and oem manual (pdf file) that has your motor in it

you need ta locate tha other end of that tan/blue coming from tha over temp sensor.. it should terminate on tha plastic term strip along with another tan/blue tha goes into tha main harness.. tha other end should be under tha dash somewhere.. may be attached to a "bad" buzzer.. make sure tha...
have you closed tha over temp sensor ta see if it has a buzzer on tha other end somewhere?.. merc use ta put tha buzzer in tha control box sometimes..
merc temp gauge?.. do you know it tha temp gauge sensor is calibrated for tha gauge.. more importantly is a mech, not electric water pressure...
look on tha port side of clamp bracket.. you should see tha end of tha rod that tha center tilt cylinder attaches too.. it will have a slot in tha end of it.. there should be two holes for tha screws that hold tha sensor on.. your sensor will look like #24 in tha diagram attached.. it will have...
jus wanna self correct.. they did build a "crank rated 200" in '82 that did have tha vertical front half.. only year that happened... so it is technically a 200... sorry my bad.............
this would lean towards a ecu pump driver problem.. disconnect tha pump from tha ecu power.. both positive and negative... hook tha pump up to any purple (switched hot) on positive and ground on motor.. this by passes tha ecu.. pump will run anytime key is on....
