I need to replace the raw water pump on an '85 Volvo Penta AQ 225 (305 chevy, 280 sterndrive). The original pump is out of production, so my question is, is the new pump that replaces it just a direct replacement? Any tricks or things to be aware of? Will the original bracket work ok?

I have an 85 bayliner 2850 with twin 225/280 set up. The controls are the standard top mount for twins, with the single lever for shift and throttle.
The shift seems worn, and sloppy at the control,(not at the sterndirve), making the "feel" tough to know when in gear or neutral. Short of...

I recently acquired an 85 2850 Sunbridge with twin 305 ci Chevys mated to Volvo 280 outdrives. I cruise about 3200 rpm at about 27 to 30 mph at sea level.
