Tachometer came with motor back in 1994. It does not have a make on it so i assume it is an OMC.
Trying to find documentation for it, i got a hint that my tacho is exactly the same with TELEFLEX and the link below which refers to motor as a 12 pole...
Anyone knows what's the standard gear ratio of the 1994 40HP evinrude?

It is a 1:2.42 ratio, 12:29 teeth gear pear.
Performance: balanced, leaning toward top speed
current blade: 11 3/4, 17" aluminum
boat: 13' inflatable Lomac (italian) with hard shallow V keel
motor: '94 40HP envinrude
speed: 30 Knots GPS
revs: 6800 WOT two persons onboard

What would be considered normal play (if any !!!) on the flywheel of a '94 40HP verticaly or horizontaly ?
Would need bearings need replacement with slightest paly ?
Does anyone know if there are any differences other than carburator bernulies and orificies and reed valve stoppers ? Do the crankcases have different exaust flutes or restricting rings ? Any knowledge will sort out years of uncertainty !!!
1994 evinrude 40HP dies for a second when boat hits water after waves. I sounds electrical. I run engine with peripheral electrics disconnected and problem still there. Problem starts 1/2 throttle and increases with throttle increase. Any suggestions ?
engine dies for a second when boat hits water falling after waves at 1/2 throttle and above. I had this to a much lesser extend with it's own 40HP carbs but is much worse after I fitted carbs of a 1990 50HP. Otherwise engine runs smoothly.
