    1974 evenrude pops out of Forward gear

    it pops out at higher speeds. I noticed that the gear locks in all the way in feverse but in forward it barely goes forward out of nutral. I noticed that you can adjust shifter. Could that be it instead of something pricy like gears and dogs?
