Was making it too hard. Took off the 8 nuts, removed the rod, one tug and it came right out. Looked like it had new grease inside. Is that lower unit inspectable to see if anything is hinky inside? Thanks
I am removing this stern drive so I can remove the 2.5. It’s in a 1987 and everything I look at says it should be a bravo one. Where it gets hinky is the speedo cable is not under the exhaust but mounted to the boat. Also the rod for the tilt does not have c-clips but nuts on both ends. The...
I have an 87 Larsen 120 mercruiser ( the wife’s fishing boat). The 120 is froze up. Is the 140 a direct swap as I did find one of those. A mechanic told me even other 2.5s may not be a direct swap as there are multiple bolt patterns on the 2.5. TIA, Don

I have an 87 larson runabout with a froze motor. Previous owner ran it out of oil. In looking for a replalcement block to rebuild, apparently gm has four patterns of these. Is there a list to figure out which one I have? I found a rebuilder out of an 88 s10 with a bad head, but it is 170...
I bought an 87 Larson with a seized 2.5. I wanted to see if I could free it up prior to removing it. There doesn’t seem to be a good way to get a wrench on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Don
I am sure this has been addressed but I can't find it...Like many OMCs my tilt clutch assembly was full of water..motor works fine, the clutch pack is out but since I was in there I wanted to replace the seals on the outdrive side and add a drain plug. I removed the snap ring but can seem to...
