    87 triton reinstall outdrive

    replaced the shift cable. am happy with it. what is the trick for getting the u-joints to slide thru the exhaust bellows? have lubed well.do i need to put a sleeve around it like installing pistons?

    removing shift cable. 1987 omc with a 4.3. was a 2.3.

    have removed the outdrive. can play with shifter and get neutral and forward. reverse seems to grab then drop out. do i need running rpm's for reverse to stay in? the shift cable outside cover has seperated where the cable comes thru at the shifter. red outside cover moves but the inside stays...

    have a 2 week old 1987 triton dynasty. believe it had a 2.3l in it as the omc outdrive says for a 2.3l. has a 4.3l gm now. anyway no reverse and no neutral. have read about the shift cable and can see where it seperates at the outdrive. have removed the outdrive and believe have no reverse also...
