I am finally getting my 2019 boat purchase rebuilt to the point I need to think about a new engine. My original evinrude short shaft 25hp does not work at this point.
I am thinking a new short shaft 25 hp Merc 4 stroke. Anyone have experience with these modern engines?
I am restoring/rebuilding my 1975 14' Springbok Sprinter which is an aluminum built 4 seater with windshield and steering wheel and remote control throttle. My question is, I had originally planned to use my 1953 Evinrude 25HP bigtwin to power it but it does not have electric start and my 60...

Really?
I replaced a 1983 Merc 25 Hp this summer on a family member boat with an E Tech 30. Yes its a great smooth engine but the hole shot and quick rev of the older 25 was better. The top speed and for sure fuel economy is better with the e engine but the older 25 had more throttle response.

One of the reasons I ask is in 2010 a guy on here posted his plate for the same make and model and his stamped number was NDS345. Swiada was his name. I private wrote him but no reply yet

My new boat an aluminum boat 14 feet long pointed deep V front end and a flat back end. It is rated for a 25 hp. Any idea what speed range I would be in using a 53 bigtwin 25? The boats weight is 225 pounds.
