what is the recommended steps going forward? shove the wire mesh thing back in the hose? Buy a new pulse line with spark arrester in it? I can spray carb cleaner through the hose both ways. From what I read, this should only be a 1 way valve?

I was inspecting fuel lines, pulled this pulse line off the VRO fuel pump. Noticed this wire mesh about 2 inches into the fuel line. Is this mesh the spark arrester???

Engine is running rough lately, compression is good. removed carbs to clean and noticed these two washer or bushings under the plate that is just below and in front of a carb. What is it and where does it go? I cant find it in the parts diagram or service manual.

I had replaced those seals 329922 and 329923 previously during the rebuild.
I replaced my shift rod cover o'ring and pressure test looked good, and have had the boat out for about 1.5hrs and all appears to be good!
If I am following you.............I replaced the water pump housing as well as that gasket under the water pump. If that needed replaced, wouldn't I hear air hissing/leaking from there as well when I pump up pressure?

I do not. What I get from the manual, is that it is an overheat warning horn.
When I ground the temp sensor wire, my temp gauge shoots all the way up, but no horn sound.

Long story short, I was grinding when shifting gears, had milky gearcase oil. I drained and did pressure test after I pulled the lower unit. Air is hissing between the shift rod grommet and shift rod cover, see picture with arrows. The grommet just sits on top, so don't feel its intended to...

I have a horn button on the instrument panel. Does nothing when I push it. I assume it just opens or closes the circuit and the horn is in the control box. Need to probably take that apart??
Got my new tach in, I get power when I turn the key, was able to set it for v4 2 stroke. Just not able to start and run the motor since we are going through a COLD spell of -5F degree HIGHs for the last week.
