I just replaced a head gasket and did my first compression check ever.
On a 1988 2 cylinder, Evinrude 40 HP outboard, I read 110 in each cylinder with a leak down check of very little psi for a couple of minutes.
Does this sound right, or should the compression check psi be higher?
Thanks
Replacing head gasket.
I have a 1988 Evinrude 40 HP tiller and have seen reference to 18 to 20 ft. lbs. (216 to 240 in. lbs.) torque on the head bolts.
Does this sound right?
Was wondering what I should torque the 10 bolts to when replacing the head gasket?
Should I use any sealant on the gasket or bolts?
What would be a reasonable compression PSI upon checking compression?
