I have a coup[le of 2 horsepower OMC engines, a 1974 Evinrude and a 1978 Johnson. Of course there were no lanyard type Engine Kill Switches on motors of this era.

Anyone have any thoughts as to mounting a Lanyard Kill Switch on a 2HP Johnson? Where should I attach the unit? Will be looking at Youtube videos later on.
I have heard that when installing a Capacitor Discharge Ignition module that you can keep the points and substitute the Module for the Condenser only. This supposedly turns the points into a switch that is accurate to fire at the right timing.
Is this true or is it a ghost story?
