Yeah I have it. Its kinda loose on the bypass port side. Also. Is the hose supposed to go to the bottom or top bypass port? Its currently going to the top port and I noticed they noticed the cowl to get at the screws to install the fuel pump as it's currently on the lower bypass cover.
It's got a newer what I'm guessing is an Amazon fuel pump on it. But no I haven't looked into it. It appeared to pump okay when I had the carb off and I spun it over. But like I say when I had it on the water it would act like it would starve out and I had to prime the bulb for it to pick back up.
Yeah like I say if you look at the bottom piston there appears to be a lot of oil built up and it runs out the exhaust ports. Could the crankcase have oil built up? I'll have to check the rings this evening..
Got some pics. Old rebuild maybe? Definitely still crosshatch on the cylinders Not sure if you can tell by the photos I took of my bore scope. Both cylinders looks the same. Pistons and rings look good. One thing I noticed it that bottom piston is absolutely covered in oil towards the bottom...
Ill have to get some today after work. The engine is more or less an unknown. Bought it cheap with complaints of a running issue. Took it out and it stumbled and hated to idle well, but seemed okay top end. Went through the carb and it was fairly clean. I know it acts like the fuel pump...
The boat is a 73 crosby 14ft sea sled. Originally I had it powered by if I recall correctly a 69 25hp Evinrude. It pushed the boat well. Didn't feel "sluggish" even when loaded down 2 people and gear. I dont recall the top speed, but it was decent I was happy with it.
Fast forward after...
Those shocks on the motor? Are they designed to help lift the motor or just to lower it slower? Cause they dont seem to do much of anything either way.
That little pin in the end of the drive shaft? Yeah if thats what your talking about. It didn't really wanna move for me?
And I believe it to be the original OEM impeller. PO did say the boat hadn't been to the lake maybe 10 times since new in 1974.
Im keeping all the old parts in case...
