73 merc 50. started good, but no top end. rebuilt carbs, good top end but hard starting. does anyone have the base carb adjustment and/or timing. neighbors boat and trying to help.

the linkage on the starboard side seems to be stopping throttle linkage. there is a spot where the secondaries will open, but when it warms up, it's like it goes too far and stops the travel again. I watched many times and cant figure it out.

I plan on putting a water pump in a 1985 omc out drive. Has anyone done this? I have and a seloc and a shop but am not a marine mechanic. Should I try it or leave it up to the pros?
