    Weird overheating issues

Update: I put sections of clear hose on the raw water pump and exhaust water lines as you advised. At idle there were no bubbles coming up the raw water pump hose although when increased rpm there were several bubbles. I assume that due to inadequate capacity from the water hose. There were...

    Weird overheating issues

The thermostat is installed spring down, which I belive is correct. I have not pressure tested the water jacket or acetone tested the manifolds. Wouldnt I get water in cylinders if the manifolds or risers were cracked? I havent seen a bleed orifice on the housing. Where is it located?

    Weird overheating issues

I pulled the manifold and engine water pump hoses off of the thermostat housing. The large engine water pump hose was full of water and water ran out of the housing. Both manifolds were dry of course. If the other head was cracked and pushing exhaust into the water jacket would the water...

    Weird overheating issues

Both head gaskets have been replaced (the right side twice now). I pulled the manifold and engine water pump hoses off of the thermostat housing. The large engine water pump hose was full of water and water ran out of the housing. Both manifolds were dry of course.

    Weird overheating issues

I have not found any impeller pieces for certain. Im about to take the thermostat housing back off to to check if any are clogged in the thermostat or manifold water supply ports.

    Weird overheating issues

Any thoughts on what else could be the cause besides the head? I would like to eliminate everything else before taking th head back off.

    Weird overheating issues

I probably should have, but no. I didnt notice any water in any cylinders on that side. I have replaced both head gaskets.

    Weird overheating issues

I have a 2001 vp 5.0gl. It recently overheated due to bad impeller and raw water pump. After replacing the raw water pump and while running on the internal water hose directly to the raw water pump the water flow through the exhaust would stop and all the water would divert through the lower...

    Transom noise

While idling away from the dock a growling/ whining noise started. The gimbal was replaced last spring and has been silent since but about 5 min after starting, while at idle, the noise suddenly started like a switch was flipped. I listened to it in neutral for about a minute and decided to...

Volvo Penta 5.0 GL will crank, but won't run after overheat

It would be best to look up a video on head gasket replacement. You need to remove both exhaust risers and manifolds, distributor(dont forget to mark the plug wires and rotor orientation before removal), carb and intake manifold, alternator, power steering pump, water pump, fuel pump bracket...
