ok so I have a 35hp 1989 mercury outboard and have access to parts from a 40hp mercury around 1990 or so. is it possible to take the carb off of the 40 and put it on the 35hp? and if I did would it increase my hp?

ok so I have a 1972 25hp evinrude that is overheating. I have replaced the water pump, put in a new thermostat, and have forced water through the cooling system and it circulates through the powerhead and around the cylinders with ease. I read somewhere that there could be a clog in my manifold...
