Thanks - it’s part 14 that needs to come out to replace the o-ring. Volvo and after market sells kits for these, but it looks like it needs to be drilled/ground out. Just trying to do my homework before attempting on a very expensive trim cylinder.

Is there a trick to removing the brass cup to replace the o-ring where the line connects to the trim cylinder? Mine is leaking ever so slightly.

More than likely the seal is going bad. Noticed mine was slowly dripping this weekend as well. Going to rebuild it with a new bearing and seal.

Just came across this randomly while looking at a different product of they make. Has anyone used Triax gear oil? Price is right, and it says it’s ok for VP stern drives. $13 a quart makes it cheaper than anything I’ve seen in a while.

Well, I bought a rebuild from five star and the thing leaked less after 1 season. They refused to stand by their warranty claiming I have grit in my system - which I don’t. So my views on them is they don’t stand by their warranty and make all kinds of excuses.

Can’t thank you enough - really appreciate you taking the time to look it up. Thankfully this only set my boating season back a few weeks. Still can’t believe I did that.

Last shot at this before making a 3 hour round trip to the boat. On my buyers order, I’ve got these numbers: Transom Model 4151180492, and Transom Serial# 3883710. Drive is an SX-A with 1.66 ratio with serial #3883602. Really appreciate the help.

Last question on this. Can someone confirm this is the correct shield? 2008 4.3gxi-j, 3869393 - transom plate part number: 21468120

Thanks you are correct - 20 foot Regal, not much to come off, just the engine cover.

Thank you - hopefully Volvo’s are close to this. That’s not as bad as I thought. It was a horrible feeling picking up the piece and then seeing what broke off. Thought everything was aligned and it sure didn’t take much force to snap that off.

I guess my question is how many hours if all goes smooth?

Me being dumb, broke off the power steering bracket. I realize the engine needs to come out, and am curious what the shop time is for replacing an inner transom plate on a 2008 4.3gxi sx-a? It’s a freshwater boat with easy access and plenty of room.

Thanks Scott - Five Star is the company that told me it’s not rebuildable and I need a new actuator - despite the 2 year warranty. I guess I get where they are coming from, but should disclose this better. I’ll research the other stuff. Forgot to mention it’s a 2008 4.3gxi-j. I assume it has...
