I've got a 1988 Merc 35 hp model 1035412BD. I got it without the battery cables, but need someone to tell me where to plug the pos and neg into. I'm assuming the pos goes to the solenoid for the starter and the neg just grounds out on the motor itself, but I'm not sure.

I'm trying to find out what model and year my motor is. I've searched the archives as well as the net and haven't had much luck. It is a Belgium made Mercury 50 hp SN/ 9310689. It appears to be early 80's from what I can tell but was hoping to narrow it down a bit. Any help is appreciated.
