In an attempt to understand what makes an outboard tick, I began disecting a friends old Elgin that he had given up for dead. It had compression and, after some tinkering, I got spark on both plugs. I have since completely disassembled, sanded, primed and painted the motor and I am now in the process of reassembly. It is here where I ran into some questions. After searching this forum throughout the rebuild (very helpful by the way) I noticed that not all old Elgins use the same fuel mixture nor the same lower end oil/grease. Likewise with the sparkplugs and gaps. Would any of y'all know these specs? I'm also having trouble finding an impeller, mine's turned to powder. I think finding it will be my biggest challenge. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
