loctite 572 for yamaha

My F100 manual says to use loctite 572 for the waterpump housing bolts. Can I use 242 instead?<br />Can't find 572 anywhere and don't know the difference.

572 is a sealant, not a threadlocker like 242. I guess it's basically like a pipe dope. Personally, I use permatex type sealant on my water pump bolts, but grease works great too.

my bolt sealant of choice is perfect seal or grease, depending.
