I decided to try and change the oil to the lower unit myself. All the directions talked about a lower and upper plug. I have a 125 Mariner and it has three plugs. Vent, Oil level, and Drain. Does this change the way you put the oil into the lower unit?

Welcome to i-boats dcjfam1. The best boating forum on the web IMHO.

Bottom plug is drain/fill. Upper plugs are both vent plugs in reality. Remove all of these plugs when filling. Fill L/U from the drain/fill plug hole until oil flows from front vent plug. Without removing the tube of lubricant, install the front vent plug and then continue filling until it is level with the bottom of rear most vent plug. Install the rear vent plug, remove the tube of lubricant and install the drain/fill plug.

Thank you very much RodC. Now I just have to figure out how to squeeze this bottle hard enough to make the oil go into the lower unit.

Don't know where you are but a small inexpensive pump is readily available just for this purpose. Pump threads onto lube bottle and a short hose threads into the lower unit. Just hook it up and pump away till its full. Some of the Walmarts carry them and most marine suppliers. Think they are about $10-12. Bought mine at an automotive store in Ontario Canada.

This may be picky (Mariner owner here) but you may want to fill until it starts coming out of the "oil level" hole instead of "vent hole".
