i've been offered a merc. 70 blue band, whats the difference between a blue band and a red band motor? cheers jonah.

Red bands were pre 72 engines and blue ran in till about 84 or 85?

Some of the mechanics are still the same. <br /><br />-W (thinks the red band looked cooler)<br /><br />Footnote: The blue band appeard about the same time Big Carl left the company in disgust.

If they are the same engines, thats about the time they went from the 4 cyl. 650 t0 the 4 cyl. but most of the mechanics were the same
