Hello, I must say this site is a mine of very usefull information.I have a problem with a 1977 50hp mercury blueband with thunderbolt ignition. The engine runs and idles fine but as soon as forward or reverse is selected the engine almost dies. Take the engine out of gear and it starts straight away and runs fine.Anyone with an idea of what the problem is or could be. Thanks

Re: MERCURY 50 PROBLEMS

there is a good chance your carbs are set to lean, try opening the low speed screws about 1/4 turn
