85 merc mariner wiring diagram

gday all <br />i am having a problem with wiring up a new ignition (3 prong) for a merc mariner 1985 40HP . <br />im having trouble with some surplus wires at ignition end :/ ie.pink,white,green <br />can i somehow loop these back or configure some way to adapt to a newer ignition with only the pos/neg/sol connections ?? <br />would any of you kind people out there be able to tell me where i could get a wiring diagram for this set-up ? preferably free <br /><br />many thanks in advance<br />cam<br /><br />camstans@hotmail.com

Yes, Camstans.<br /><br />You can make free (or nearly free) copies at a library. That is the only legal way I know of to get copies of copyrighted material.<br /><br />It would probably be a better idea to get a manual. thanks JB <br />our libraries are a little sparse on the ole boat manual selection . <br />i will have to convince my mate (the owner) to bite the bullet and buy one . <br />the thing is that i want to convert the older ignition with many a wire coming out the back to a newer one with only the 3 terminals at the back ..<br />thanks again
