Hello everyone . .

I'm a new member that is glad to have found this site! It's loaded with great info.

My problem is that my engine 20amp fuse blows when I use my tilt trim while I'm underway. The engine keeps running, but it will not restart until I replace the fuse.

I have a feeling that I may be low on fluid. What type of fluid does my engine take?

My boat is in the water, and I don't have a trailer to pull it out. :( Can I service the unit from the dock?

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. ;)

From the the fabulous Florida Keys, Bobby.

Hi Bobby!
Welcome to iboats!

I think you have a short circuit somewhere. Damp in the connections or T/T switch. Check for water, dry and spray them with WD-40. Also check all wires for broken isolation.

Is it a remote or a tiller model? Electric or manual start?

Can you see exactly when the fuse blows, it's when you use the starter, right? The fuse is blown even if you didn't touch the T/T switch?

I don't think you need to fill the fluid, unless it isn't working properly and without any strange noise. You said it works until you start the engine.

Hey bear!

Thanks for the quick reply. I've read that you've helped alot of people here at the site.

The boat is equipped with a remote mercury, single lever station. And you know what, I just replaced a bad throttle cable. So, I could have pinched a wire inside the control box since I also have a remote tilt switch. That's when the problem started although the tilt prior to that did work intermitidly, but the engine fuse never blew until I replaced the throttle cable.

That's why I thought that I might be low on fluid. What type of fluid does it take, ATF?

I've got the day off tommarrow, so I'd really like to get something worked out with this problem. I need to check my stone crab traps.
